I’m not really a traditional portrait-of-your-kids-hanging-above-your-couch kind of mom, but Elizabeth Chapin creates such magic with her paintbrush that I believe it would the best kind of art to own. She sees something that no one else sees and I think her work is brilliant.
How cute is she in her little hat? Elizabeth’s work renders me speechless (something that, as you know, doesn’t happen very often). I can’t even begin to imagine what my girls would look like through her eyes. I would love to find out.
I’ve loved her stuff awhile now, but when I saw the tour of her abode on Apartment Therapy, I loved her even more. She’s an artist’s artist when it comes to design—love, love, love her colorful whimsical style! And she lives in Austin, Texas no less–one of my very favorite places on the planet.
First of all, she decorates with cowboy boots (mine are at the front door right now).
It’s a very happy house and I would imagine a very happy, fun family dwelling inside.
To have your own paintings of your kids on the wall in various stages of their growth would be a pretty cool thing. I would like to spend an afternoon at this table having tea and taking in all of the color and Elizabeth’s words of wisdom.
