It’s kind of a blur.
I went from this (enjoying my Texan buddies)…
To a mad scramble for this…
So I could get home to this…
My youngest broke her tibia and fibula during a soccer game while I was in Texas. The strangest thing is that I was on the phone with PH when it happened. His “She’s down! Have to go!!” nearly killed me, but luckily there were friends on the field who called to let me know what was going on. It was a bad break and my husband endured some serious trauma in the whole get-to-the-hospital-set-the-leg-get-home thing. He’s my hero and made me feel better by saying that I he was glad I wasn’t there…I have a weak stomach and a weak heart for my kids and would’ve ended up on the floor in a heap adding to the mess.
This week has been about:
1) getting a cast 3/4 up her thigh
2) learning how to drive a wheelchair
3) maneuvering said chair in a busy junior high hallway
4) showering while balancing a very heavy cast in mid air
She is a rock star and I am so proud of how she’s gettin’ on with the show, so to speak. It is so, so hard to see your kids in pain…and couple that with emotional distress (like the giving up of an elite cross country team spot and the rest of the soccer season), it’s enough to make me break down too. But tonight ALL IS WELL and I am grateful.
Tomorrow is the first day I will have to work on Texas Adventure Pix…so much goodness to share! It was an amazing trip.
Hope you and yours are doing well, well, well, lovelies~

Oh Lara! I get the “mama trauma” as our family has had (IMO) more than it’s share of broken limbs through the years. For me, the roughest part was wondering if my child would regain full and easy use of their limb again. My son, Brennan, broke his arm 2 years ago in such a manner that it required 4 hours worth of surgery, 3 days in the hospital and months of physical therapy. I wondered all along, can such a mess become strong and useful again? I am so glad to say that it could and it did. He can do pushups and lift weights. This is to say, try not to fret as I did. Your girl is young and strong and she will heal amazingly. Blessings to all of you.
