Meeting the muse…an appointment made in pen

Ever wonder what she looks like?

Your MUSE, I mean…(caps out of respect)

I think mine is strutting around wearing something like this…

the most perfect butterfly dress you’d ever want to stumble upon.

via.

and of course she’s wearin’ ruby slippersduh

via.

..because it really was time she harnessed that having- power-thing…and I must mention that she’s probably getting a little ticked that she’s being stood up.

Muses don’t like to be stood up.

She doesn’t like to wait and just might stop coming if you let her down too much.

*******************************************************

The act of getting in a creative zone is always cyclical with me. It’s not necessarily predictable, because that would be too easy…it waxes and wanes like the moon and frankly, there are times when the ideas come and I’m just not ready to execute.

Dang it.

It’s frustrating.

Kids are back in school. My art studio is coming along nicely complete with barn doors (anal me won’t show pics until it’s totally done). I have my list of creative wishes. I even created some deadlines for myself.

Sooooo…I made a date to meet THE MUSE on Tuesdays. This, of course, means jamming all photo sessions and editing/ordering into other days during the week, but at this point I’ll do anything to get my creative groove on. What’s that song say about “shaking your groove thing”? Well, I’m here and now publically acknowledging that I possess a groove thing and it needs to be shaken…

not stirred, thank you very much.

Talked to sweet Jeanne the other night and she had some very good advice for little ‘ole having-a-hard-time-beginning-ME

“Sometimes ya just gotta show up.”

It’s not really that hard, now, is it? Just showing up.

So, I tried it this week and SHE (meaning the butterfly dress, ruby slipper wearin’ MUSE) came to visit.

With a swing in her step.

Let’s just say my fingers were completely covered in gel medium and paint (fingerprints on the door jam to prove it)…

I had a slight headache because I didn’t want to break for lunch…

..and there was finished product picture-taking involved.

When it was time to go pick up the girls, I actually said the words (OUT LOUD to the snoring dogs at my feet):

“I showed up and she showed up. I love Tuesdays.”

Haven’t titled this yet, but here is Art Day Tuesday’s rendering~

Ooooo….3-D…I loooove stuff that comes out from the canvas..like a little surprise :)

I actually got inspired to crank out a little canvas after the first piece–I’m into doors and birds and wings these days…um…metaphors, anyone?

Funny how that happens.

Just put both in my Etsy shop.

P.S. About that comparison thing we visited this week…WHOO-BOY, did that hit a nerve with some of you lovelies…got some incredible emails and comments..thank you for being “naked” right along with me. You shared your heart and I truly appreciate it. We are on this journey together and it is nice to lean once in awhile, isn’t it? Lean away, sweet friends!

You are one hard girl-or should I say GAL-to keep up with these days! I love the way you have let loose and allow yourself to go with YOUR own flow.
P.S. My little girls says your muse is very beautiful–but what does her face look like?
….or do MUSES (or is MUSE one of those words that can be singular or plural) have faces? LOL LOL Love you, Pati
