Modern Prairie Girl Style

It’s no secret that I have a love affair going with the style and marketing department of Anthro and Free People. I could live in the window display at Anthro for a week and be perfectly happy if someone brought me snacks. I have to be honest and say that their clothes are not that well made (always have something unraveling on them–makes me crazy), but I still am enamoured with the cut of their pieces and how feminine they are—they know how to drape a woman’s body. I try to keep my Anthro/Free People indulgences to a minimum for obvious reasons…you can find the occasional piece at secondhand spots (like this one I found at Buffalo Exchange in Portland)…

But occasionally…a piece calls my name and I think about it the next day…it is then that I know it was destined for the MPG wardrobe.

I love the skinny-at-top/wide-triangle-at-bottom cut on this…and the color! This is the color for 2012 in my closet. It means passion and joy and I plan on wearing it a lot.

This purchase below (last January on my 40th birthday) still remains to be the single best thing I ‘ve ever added to my wardrobe.

Bonnie Boots make me feel grounded and happy. I plan on adding festive boots a la Old Gringo to the rotation as the years roll on…they tell a story and never go out of style.

Some other additions will involve vintage turquoise jewelry

So pretty…

I plan on being that wild woman with long silver hair and turquoise jewelry up my wrinkly arms when I’m 75.

I have a Pinterest board for the MPG style finds if you’d like to take a peek…Pinterest can be crack, as I’m sure some of you have found out. Goodness…what a time waster! But a fun place to put all your stuff in categories.

What’s your favorite MPG style accessory?

Hope you had a great weekend, lovelies!

p.s. there’s still room in Top Secret Photography workshop in TEXAS…info is here.

For me it’s always something knit. I have this in my Etsy cart as we speak:

I love how you can wear it so many ways, and cannot wait to sport it this winter with a charcoal T & jeans :) Talk about comfy! I am in love with your sweater – is this the color too? Absolutely awesome – in fact, I think you should imagine up a fun scenario and snap a pic of yourself all MPGed up!

Sometimes I think we are soul sisters… boots, turquose… both on my favorite list! I always tell DB that I will have the wild curly gray hair down to my butt when I’m 70, while riding my Harley!!

That sweater (color) will be stunning on you!
