I written about Kim Meeder before. She is one of my heroes. She created Crystal Peaks Ranch in Bend, Oregon-a place where she and her team rescue horses in need (many of them victims of horrific abuse and accidents), rehabilitates them and then brings in kids (many of them abused and neglected) to work with these horses. It’s run completely on private donations. Because it’s a faith based organization, it cannot receive government aid.

Kim has written many books about her journey. I’ve cried more than a few tears reading about her experiences with the horses and the children. I fell in love with everything she’s doing in the first book—a must read!

To walk around her ranch yesterday photographing her, her team of right hand women, and the horses was a life highlight for me.  They will all be part of my book in progress, “Horse Girl” and the exhibit in October in Camas.

This a great video that captures what Crystal Peaks is about:

I will be working on all of the equine imagery (running wild–beyond thrilling!) and post them soon.

Hope your summer is proving to be wonderful, lovelies~

Those 3 horses are all so uniquely beautiful! What a wonderful way to bring two loves together and be able to share faith. We have a camp here called Dreamcatchers that is a therapeutic riding facility, I’ve seen it touch the children and adults that go there in the same way. That unconditional love that comes from these animals brings so much joy. The horse doesn’t care about your disability and lets them accomplish something they never thought they would. Maybe you can make an East Coast jaunt ;)
I so can not wait for your book, every time you give us a glimpse I know it is going to be so breathtakingly beautiful!
