This place does the most

amazing

things to my soul

Complete calm as I listen to the doves cooing in the trees outside our room

Shifting palm leaves rustle as I head out to let the tradewinds wrap

around

me,

grasping at the freshness

Lush is a word that comes to mind–everything here, the vegetation, sand and sea

My

heart rate

slows

I am more thoughtful here, my mind opening up the spaces that become locked down in rainy winter months

Even my dreams are more vivid, full of meaning and flashing colors

In the days of spring, I take breaks at work to place my feet

in

a

box of sand and shells

Muted sounds of slat key guitar come from a small iphone speaker

This experience take me there a little, yet it

fades

with

rain pelted windows

It’s just enough to remind my heart rate to again slow in rhythm of the

waves of the Pacific

When reverie becomes reality, and my buried feet are deep in the wet sand, I say the same prayer of gratitude

The mouthed words getting caught up in the crashing surf that creeps closer and closer as

I

inch

my

way

to the place where ghosts of sand castles sink underground

It is hard to not let the longing for next time stand in the way of enjoying every moment of this grand escape..

Yet, I am here now–let these islands seep in my heart like a tropical shower

The summer of travel…that’s where we’re living. This wanderlust heart loves to be on the move!

Funny enough, the bird’s eye view from a hotel balcony gave me my second favorite shot…

The image I will pin to my bulletin board is the one that speeds up my heart rate…Hawaii is where we honeymooned 16 years ago—love. this. man.

Lovelies, I hope your summer is a smashing one—soaking up sun and eating meals outside…driveway games when the sun is going down…here’s to the months slowing down for all of us.

beautiful…so thankful for you that you were able to get away and just “be” instead of “do.”
