Sometimes we need a map

Hello, Sweet Lovelies…happy Friday.

It is another morning that my treadmill jaunt was filled with all kinds of random thoughts and worries.

Silly worrying that really isn’t necessary…

but still…

it seems to come during times of transition.

I’m really feeling drawn to “concept shooting” rather than “likeness shooting”…meaning, I’d rather style a session or family in a theme or idea, rather than have them don jeans and white shirts in my forest…not that I don’t have a great time with these families…I’m just yearning to exercise my creative muscles and ten years is a long time for jeans and white shirts.

Friends…I’ve lost the love…there..

I said it.

Out loud.

Kinda.

Anyhoo…just loving my dog sessions so much and wanting my people sessions to COUNT…for me, creatively, anyway. Can one cross over into this land with five million displays up in my town that do not show this concept? Help me please, friends…I need some guidance here. How does one convince the public that a styled shoot will be one of the most fun times in their lives? One that will produce a memorable experience as well as a product that will forever make them smile.

Although at times I figuratively rummage through the glove box of life looking for that map that will tell me exactly which way to go, I know that most likely it will arrive in an organic fashion.

Organic is good…authentic and sometimes surprising..but the truth of the matter is..

I’M IMPATIENT.

Good grief, this “living into the answers” thing is so difficult. There are days I seriously try to do this with grace…and then there are days that I just want to create my own darn answers. This is not what the poet, Rainier had in mind, I think.

So…we shall look to the infamous poet Jon Bon Jovi for his words of wisdom below…..(with some photo representation of a recent shoot)~

PH shot this for the Humane Society calendar we sponsor every year as part of our “Paws…for a Cause”.

My two sweeties! Doesn’t Fauna (AKA “Captain Fauntastic) look like a wingless bat? Love my furry kids.

Happy weekend, dear MPG’s…

OX.

I’d love to grab one of those suitcases, don the hat, gloves, coat and pearls and go along on such a fabulous and creative journey!! Enjoy the ride – it may be bumpy at times, but ooh what fun!!! xoxo

As a mom of 4 girls under the age of 7, I gave your title a hearty, “Amen to that!” . . . until I reread it and saw that it said Map not Nap. :)

Either way, the pictures are fab.

You have talked about this for awile and I am sure it is hard to find families that are looking for this. I have to be honest that I don’t know what theme I would pick and how to make it look natural…I know you do. Have you thought of doing magazine work. Your ideas and photography would be perfect for magazines and even clothing lines that would play into this amazing vision you see.
