Summer at full throttle

This summer I feel like I’m in the middle of the fun, but also a part of me is on the

outside

looking

in.

In a word, the feeling that rushes through me like a current is gratitude. I love summer so much because we live as passionately as we can outside in this gorgeous part of the country….we know that the rains will come and we’ll head inside. I think it makes Northwesterners (at least this one) a little panicky about getting out there in the sun.

I guess I also feel this next year will be a doozy as far as time commitment goes. The new teaching position is going to be incredible and I’m so, so excited, but I’m a bit nervous about how much real estate it will take up in the ‘ole noggin. I tend to be a workaholic (especially when little brains are at stake) and I don’t want to lose sight of my mom/wife life at home. With all of that in mind, I’m feeling an extra push to DO IT ALL this summer with the fam. So far so good!

Oregon Coastcheck. Our annual trip to my dad and Bonus Mom’s in Manzanita is a highlight. The parade never disappoints.

Bend beautycheck. For those of you wondering about the location of Paulina Lake, the shang-r-ila I blogged about—drive south of Sunriver and turn at the sign. It’s hard to miss.

Airstream/tandem adventure with PHcheck. We rode the tandem from morning ’til night around the islands and crashed in Sylvia (which is now being called The Twinkie..I was vetoed by the offspring) after relaxing with a nightcap (that word cracks me up—-reminds me of Love Boat..as in, “Wanna come in for a night cap?” HA!).

Motorcycle ride to Mt. Rainiercheck. The lodge there is so cool! Very rustic and quaint (read: so tiny your feet touch the opposite wall from bed). Super fun watching all of the hikers getting their gear together for the long climb to the summit. This is PH’s dream, yet not mine. He will have to find a willing friend to join him.

Ferry boat rides in Puget Soundcheck. Loved ’em as a kid–they hold the same magic now.

A promise a full tour of The Twinkie soon. I’m being anal…don’t want to show her until she’s completely done! I’m so happy with the cheerful yellow—it’s so nice to wake up to. Like opening your eyes in the middle of a lemon meringue pie! Can’t wait for the big reveal.

I hope your summer is wonderful and you’re able to relax and enjoy your family and some down-time. It is the best season…my favorite.

Hugs to you all, Lovelies~

I have to admit…I’m liking the “Twinkie” name 😉 Glad it has been good weather for you. Rain here – lots- and totally nasty humid! I so need to move to the WC!

we do an annual trip to Oregon/Bend area… will be there soon, actually. So fun. Funny I came across your lovely blog and noticed your airstream.. we just bought a 1962 overlander and the previous owners named it sylvia. We’re debating on keeping the name or not. Can’t wait to see more of “twinkle!”
