I love having a book stack in anticipation of summer.
‘Thought I’d share what will be resting underneath the hammock or deep in the grass field in the next couple of months.
The bottom book above (which you can’t see) is “Undecorate”
So many great ideas in there! Love Christiane’s style and it is one I will go to again and again for inspiration.
Unfurling, Misty Mawn’s new book, is inspiring as well.
I’m trying to get over my fear of drawing faces and I believe she’s just the Uber-artist to help.
“Crazy Sexy Diet”, as I mentioned here,
is helping me with my tummy issues and pushing me towards a diet heavy on chlorophyll and kale, believe it or not. Never would have thought it, but it is making me feel pretty darn good.
I’m going to finish “Drawing for the Right Side of the Brain” this summer. I got sidetracked (just like a right brain person can do!) and I never finished up. I really was seeing some progress, and I need to go to the end.
“The Diary of Anais Nin” is on my list because it’s been recommended to me a number of times by people who know me well.
I started it, and let me tell you, she is the epitome of strong and clever woman—in a time when that was not valued. I love her writing style.
I’m waiting on two books that should be here today:
Surface Treatment Workshop will be very useful in my art making this summer.
“Paster Studio” is one I found through my friend Jeanne and I cannot wait to start a new technique! fun! I’m always game for something new to add to the canvas that is messy.

This weekend was a whirlwind of track and field as I my girls competed in the state meet. I was such a proud mom! Both girls placed in their events….I had a “moment’ in the stands seeing future meets in our future. Can’t wait.
Have a great week, lovelies!
We’re finishing up school on Wednesday and the energy is changing around here.

Congrats to the girls!!!! Does this mean you are heading east?!
By the way, Beth and Bob are following the diet and loving it. xo
I never thought I would ever be able to draw anything until I read and worked with Betty Edwards’ book. The hardest part for me was letting go of that left brain focus, but once I did it was amazing what came out of my pencil!
I have been thinking about reading Anaïs Nin’s diary, too, and now I may just have to order it. Thanks for sharing the books. I just love summer reading! Hope you enjoy alll your lovely reads!
have you tried making kale chips? I never thought I could get into kale until I roasted the leaves with olive oil and salt til crispy! it’s tasty and i prefer it to wilted greens.
I absolute love the Diaries of Anais Nin. I copy down quotes from her book that really capture my attention. I haven’t read all 7 volumes yet. Love your style and your blog!
